West Virginia University Medicine Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg has been recognized in Becker’s Hospital Review as one of only 381 hospitals in the United States to receive a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Grant Memorial Hospital is the only non-governmental hospital and one of only four hospitals in West Virginia that received this recognition. Also recognized were Beckley VA Medical Center, Huntington VA Medical Center and Martinsburg VA Medical Center.
CMS annually assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals based on 46 hospital quality measures, which are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care.
