The Pendleton County Wildcats are ready to hit the links with six high schoolers and 13 middle school golfers.
First year high school golfers include Jax Bennett and Logan Fisher. Rounding out the team are Dylan Eye, Lucas DiFalco, Barrett Cook and Mason DiFalco.
DiFalco and Eye are both starting their third season as golf team members and will serve as team leaders.
The first home match for the high school begins at 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Highlands at Fisher Mountain. In addition to Pendleton County, teams from Frankfort, Romney, Keyser, Berkeley Springs, and University will be competing in the 18-hole match.
The middle school golfers are scheduled to play three matches at the Highlands. Sixth graders include Braxton Beachler, Owen Champ, Breymann Keesecker, and Ross Pownell. Seventh graders are Shane LaMaster, Ty Johnson, Kolton Bland, Beckett Aumann, and Jacob Thompson. Eighth graders include Blaine Cook, Colton Jackson, Hayden Kimble, and Landon Davis.
Veteran middle school players, Aumann and Davis, have set a great example for other team members and will serve as team leaders.
The first middle school match will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 12 as the Wildcats take on Romney, Davis Thomas, and Capon Bridge at the Highlands at Fisher Mountain.
“It is exciting to see the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn shown by the group,” stated Charles Burgoyne, coach.
