Olin Louis Hoover, 82, of Brandywine passed away Dec. 29, 2023, at his home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Sugar Grove and was the son of the late Raymond Ralph Hoover and Beulah Elizabeth (Moyers) Hoover.
Mr. Hoover was a 1960 graduate of Franklin High School. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman during the Vietnam War from 1960 – 1964.
He received his bachelor’s of science from James Madison University in 1972, master of education from JMU in 1976 and masters + 30 in 1990 from West Virginia University.
He was an earth science teacher at Broadway High School from 1973 – 1980. In July of 1980, he became principal at Franklin High School, and later served as transportation director for Pendleton County Schools.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and attended Brandywine Baptist Church and Brandywine Christian Church. He was a charter member of the JMU Leadership Society and had served as commander of American Legion Post #30.
On July 23, 1977, he married Donna (Bennett) Hoover, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dr. Michelle Renee Hoover-Wickline (husband, John) of Clarksburg and Dr. Annette Marie Hoover (fiancé, Zachary) of Martinsburg; a brother, Adalbert Eugene Hoover (wife, Lorena) of Brandywine; two grandchildren, Ty Hamilton Wickline (wife, Maryanna Marie Mason-Wickline) of Morgantown and Carrie Elizabeth Wickline of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews,
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Raymond Medford Hoover.
