Judy Alice Simmons, 80, of Franklin passed away Sept. 18, 2024, at Augusta Health Care Center in Fishersville, Virginia.
She was born on March 31, 1944, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph A and Virgie Mae (Hartman) Simmons.
Ms. Simmons was a 1963 graduate of Franklin High School and a member of Friends Run Church of the Brethren.
She had worked at Franklin Garment Company and Hanover Shoe Company.
She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Perry Simmons (Lisa) of Port Republic, Virginia; three sisters, Velma Lantz and Bonnie Davis, both of Franklin, and Sally George of Riverton; three brothers, Lacy Simmons, George Simmons (Edna) and Perry Simmons (Linda), all of Franklin; and a grandson, Isaac Simmons (Allisha) of Gordonsville, Virginia.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Reford Simmons; and two sisters, Guilda Meadows and Shirley Alexander.
A graveside service with interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Simmons Family Cemetery on Smith Creek in Franklin. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Alan Sisson officiating.
