Harley Leo Propst, 88, of Rockingham, Virginia, passed away Jan. 4, 2024, at Bridgewater Home in Bridgewater, Virginia.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1935, in Moyers and was a son of the late Fred and Myrtle (Mitchell) Propst.
Mr. Propst retired from the postal service after more than 20 years of service, had served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of the Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Dallas Cowboys fan.
On Aug. 10, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carol (Campbell) Propst, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are four children, Tony Propst and wife, Michele of Dayton, Virginia, Gina McAvoy and husband, Scott of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Larry Propst and wife, Jill of Rockingham, Virginia, and Tricia Perry and husband, Jason of Grottoes, Virginia; siblings, Stanley Propst and Jesse Carroll Propst, both of Franklin, and Sheldon Propst of Bridgewater, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Delanie Propst, Harleigh Propst, Bethany DePoy, Allison DePoy, Jason Propst, Sarah Propst, Eva Perry, Myra Perry and Braedon Perry; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Ida Mary Snyder, Charles Linaburg, Gene Rader, Velma Blondino, Arnold Propst, Marilyn Propst, and Jerry Propst.
A service celebrating his life was held Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater, Virginia, with Pastor Jay Linaburg officiating. Burial followed at Mount Crawford Cemetery.
