Genevieve Elizabeth Glover, 86, of Franklin and Harrisonburg, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2024. Her sudden passing has left an unfillable void.
She was born Dec. 6, 1937, at Hunting Ground and was the daughter of the late Conda Roy and Betty Elizabeth Warner Sponaugle.
After graduating from Circleville High School in 1955, Mrs. Glover worked for a short time at a bank in Washington, DC, but then returned to her beloved Pendleton County. She retired after 36 years as financial secretary for the Pendleton County Board of Education.
She served as mayor, town council member and recorder for the Town of Franklin and retired in 2023 after 35 years of service to her community. She was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Treasure Mountain Swingers.
Her favorite pastimes were reading, sewing, and flowers, and she loved spending time with her family.
On Oct. 13, 1957, she married Denny G. Glover, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2011.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Glover and wife, Donna of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two sons, Clarke D. Glover and wife, Misty, and Scott B. Glover and wife, Elisabeth, all of Rockingham, Virginia; a sister, Brenda Sponaugle-Allen and Ray of Circleville; a brother, Billy R. Sponaugle and wife, Carolyn of Franklin; six grandchildren, Whitney Glover Moser and husband, Dylan, Callie Glover, Connor Glover, Nikolas Glover, Kalin Glover and Esther Sarco; several nieces and nephews; and extended friends, who were very dear to her heart, Rich, Crystal and Kiersten Ceely of Franklin.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Quigley; and a special companion, Leland Propst.
A funeral service was held Wednesday at Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin with Pastor Mike Loudermilk officiating. Interment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.
