Friends of Pendleton County Library encourages all community members to visit the library during National Library Week, April 7-13, to explore all the library has to offer and to say “thanks” to the staff.
“Ready, Set, Library!” is the slogan for this year’s celebrations. Libraries give everyone a green “go” light to experience something special — a welcoming space to connect with others, access services, and explore ideas.
No matter where a person finds oneself on the roadmap through one’s journey — preparing for a new career, starting a business, nurturing a family, or settling into retirement, libraries offer resources to inspire, encourage, and help.
The library staff can help a person locate books, use a computer, fill out applications, reserve space for an event, or connect with Wi-Fi. The library subscribes to regional and general interest periodicals and offers copy, fax, and notary services.
Children’s programming includes a vibrant summer reading program, story time and school group visits, plus craft kits for kids. Other events include annual Friends of the Library book sales and living history programs.
So, get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week. Pendleton County Library at 255 N. Main Street, Franklin, is here for one, all the way to the finish line. Current hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each year in April.
