Charles Rexrode, 94, of Sugar Grove passed away on Sept. 19, 2024, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1930, at Moyers, the son of the late George William and Mertie (Puffenbarger) Rexrode.
Mr. Rexrode was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School and a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
He worked in construction for several companies and was instrumental in building the Fairfield Bridge.
He took pride in his family and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and words of wisdom with his grandchildren.
His wife, Martha Elizabeth Rexrode, preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2003.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Marsha Nelson (Charlie) of Franklin; three sons, Clinton P. Eye (Mary) of Brandywine, Ronald Rexrode (Susan) of Franklin and Larry Joe Rexrode (Nancy) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Nick, Jonie, Bridget, Sarah, Rick, Mike, Luke, Tyler, Alyssa, Dustin, Kenny and Kristen; 10 great-grandchildren, Reagan, Tirzah, Sam, Zane, Dylan, Abby, Hunter, Bradley, Emma and Riley; and several nieces and nephews, including David Rexrode (Kathy), whom he raised.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Charels “Duke” and Luther Todd Rexrode; a brother, William; and four sisters, Sadie, Faye, Ruth, and Thelma.
Funeral services were held Monday at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastors Paul S. and Angela Lambert officiating. Interment was at St. Paul Church Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
