Korea
Lost in the middle of nowhere
Korea is the spot,
We’re doomed to serve our time
In the land the Lord forgot.
Down in the rice paddies and mountains
Down where a man gets blue,
Down in the middle of nowhere
A million miles from you.
You sweat, you freeze, you shiver
It’s more than a man can stand,
We are not a bunch of convicts,
We are defenders of our land.
We’re the men in the Army,
Earning our measly pay,
Guarding the people with millions,
For two and half a day.
Living here with our memories
Waiting to see our gals,
Hoping that while we’re far away
They won’t marry our pals.
Few people know we are living
Few people give a _ _ _ _,
Although we seem forgotten
We belong to Uncle Sam.
But when we get to Heaven
St. Peter will surely yell,
These boys are from Korea,
They’ve served their time in hell.
By Jacob Kisamore
And his buddies in Korea
Submitted on behalf of Jacob Kisamore, a 94-year-old veteran from Seneca Rocks. The poem was written while he was serving in Korea and sent home to his mother.
I have an original copy of this poem from the war. My grandfather Louis Silver must have served with Jacob Kisamore in Korea and helped write this poem!!
