The Pendleton County Public Library will host a free public poetry gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24.
All ages are invited to read from their favorite poets, to read their own poems, or to be enthusiastic listeners.
“This is not a contest,” Boyd Lucas, a member of the Pendleton County Library Friends and the Poetry Group, said. “Participants will not be judged on the quality of their readings or the quality of their poems. This is for people who enjoy or are curious about poetry and our local poets.”
The open mic readings will begin at 6:30 p.m. The amount of reading time allowed each participant will be determined by the number of people who register. People who want to read must register their names and phone numbers no later than Oct. 23 to Lucas at PC********@****ud.com.
Refreshments will be served.
The event is being sponsored by the PCPL’s Friends and Poetry Group.
