The world became a little less sweet today.
It is with a heavy heart, that the family shares that Hilda Cunningham, affectionately known as Cookie, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by those that loved her most.
Mrs. Cunningham was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. To know her was to love her. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel heard, valued and loved, never missing an important date.
Her generosity of spirit, quick humor, and open heart brought light wherever she went. Always a trusted confidante for advice, laughter and genuine understanding was something that will be greatly missed.
She loved everything Cape May and spending time with family. She was happiest with a deck of cards in her hands and her family gathered around. She was adventurous and always up for embracing new experiences as long as she had her “buddies” by her side. Loyal to her core, she stood by those she cared about with unwavering support and love, a legacy that will be carried on through her children.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter and devotion that will live on in her spouse, Carl, her children along with their spouses, Kimberly, Thor, Shane, Jason, Erik, Kelly, Kristine, Patrick and Eric; and many grandchildren, Noah, Jayke, Jordyn, Sydney, MaKenzie, Delaney, Ryder, Hunter, Dylan, Logan, Jebadiah, Emerson, Kristopher and Zachary.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service will follow at the James J Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania.
