Wayne William Waggy, 89, left his earthly home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on December 30, 1936, in Franklin, the son of the late Harvey Floyd and Margie (Phares) Waggy.
Mr. Waggy had worked as an orderly for two years at Christ Central Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, but he found his passion in farming where he used his skills in raising poultry, cows, goats, and sheep.
He and his wife were awarded the Environmental Award from the West Virginia Poultry Association and the Outstanding Turkey Producer Award by the West Virginia Turkey Association.
He took pride in his family and his farm, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a servant of the Lord with a humble heart, who enjoyed reading his Bible, daily. A gentle man who never needed the spotlight, he found his joy in simple quiet moments, and always blessing others with his kindness. To know him, was to love him, and he has instilled a legacy of love that will forever be cherished.
On June 9, 1962, he married the love of his life, Rettie Mae (Huffman) Waggy, his wife of 64 years, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons, David Waggy (Lois) and Steve Waggy (Lisa Warner), all of Franklin; three grandchildren, Julie Waggy Mallow (Bill) of Upper Tract, William Waggy (Heidi) and Amelia Huffman (Jordan), all of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Laban and Hardin Huffman.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmie, Richard and Harold Waggy; three sisters, Ruby Kimble, Hazel Harper and Rozelva Waggy; and his best friend, Earl L. “Ub” Huffman.
His family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery at Franklin.
Memorials may be made to any Pendleton County Rescue Squad or Fire Department.
Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
