Marlene Laverne Harman passed away on March 30, 2026, under hospice care at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, following a long illness.

She was born on April 29, 1949, in Upper Tract, a daughter of the late Charles Virgil Kimble Sr. and Eleanor Elizabeth Kimble Thompson.

Above all else, Mrs. Harman was a devoted mother. She was a hard worker and a kind and compassionate person. She never met a stranger and was a friend to so many.

She retired from the Par Mar Store, where she offered a smile and kindness to everyone.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her loving husband of 57 years, Elwood Preston “Bub” Harman, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her only son, Michael B. Harman of Upper Tract; her brothers, Danny Kimble of Franklin, John Kimble of Petersburg, and Sam Kimble of Upper Tract; her sisters, Donna Hoover (Roger) of Franklin and Debra Kimble (William) of Upper Tract; her sisters-in-law, Grace Hammer (Albert) and Martha Kimble, all of Franklin, and Donna Iman of Petersburg; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Please know that each of you held a special place in her heart. She loved all of you as if you were her own children.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Lane Kimble, Joseph Maxwell Kimble, and Charles Virgil Kimble, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Herbert Harman; and sisters-in-law, Allie “Sis” Harman, Jackie Kimble, Barb Kimble, and Ruth Harman.

In honoring her wishes, her body has been cremated.

Her family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on April 11 at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. A celebration of life will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sam Sponaugle officiating.

Memorials may be made to Pendleton Manor, PO Box 700, Franklin, WV 26807.

Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com.
