Dorothy Elaine “Dot” (Campbell) Brown, 97, of Franklin passed away on March 4, 2026, at her home in Franklin.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1929, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Elmo Edward and Ernestine Elizabeth (Corbett) Campbell.

Mrs. Brown graduated from Bath County High School.

She owned and operated The Fashion Shop in Franklin, where she sold ladies clothing and fabrics.

She was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #138, and the Garden Club. She enjoyed the window decorations during festivals in Franklin.

On April 28, 1951, she married E. Hadley Brown, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2017.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Barbara Key of Franklin and Luci Brown of Soldotna, Alaska; a son, Eugene H. “Gene” Brown (Victoria Lynn) of Midlothian, Virginia; a sister, Nancy Grogg of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a son-in-law, David Jones of Spartan, Wisconsin; a God son, William Hardy of Franklin; six grandchildren, Rocky Garcia, Evie Brown, Jordan Brown, John Key, Judith Key and Bryn Brown; four great-grandchildren, Cy, Castin, Hudson and Cash; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Jones; a grandson, Elliott Brown; a son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Key; two brothers, Denny and Buster Campbell; and three sisters, Carol Propst, Isabelle Bowers, and Ellen Shank.

The Order of Eastern Star #138 conducted a service of remembrance Sunday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Jay Linaburg followed. Interment was at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice.
