Brooke Alt, a West Virginia University Extension 4-H Youth Development agent located in Franklin, has been recognized nationally for her outstanding dedication to youth development. She received the Distinguished Service Award and Excellence in Shooting Sports Programming from the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals at the organization’s annual conference Oct. 28 – 30 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The award is one of the highest honors bestowed by NAE4-HYDP, recognizing 4-H professionals who have made significant contributions to positive youth development through innovative programming, leadership, and community impact. Awardees must have seven or more years of service to the organization, which Alt has nearly 10 years of service to the youth and the community in Pendleton County.
Alt was also recognized, along with colleagues from across the state, for her work with the Ultimate Outdoor Weekend, which is a shooting sports and outdoors camp held annually at Jackson’s Mill. Alt teaches the ATV safety portion of the weekend and will join the team as a co-director in 2026.
Hundreds of extension professionals from across the nation gathered at the conference to celebrate excellence in 4-H youth work.
