Shirley Mae Warner Thompson, 84, of Bridgewater, Virginia, passed away Feb. 7, 2025, at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1940, and was a daughter of the late Fred M. and Annie Lucille Warner.
Mrs. Thompson retired From Sunnyside Retirement Community after 35 years of service.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling, especially to West Virginia. She had a knack for taking care of people and doing for others.
She was united in marriage on Aug. 11, 1962, to Richard “Pete” Thompson, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Pamela Thompson and Phillip Thompson and wife, Joanna; son-in-law, Tim Whitmore; five grandchildren, Joshua Knight, Stephanie Thompson, Megan Knight, Jonathan Thompson and Brooke Whitmore; eight great-grandchildren, Brinleigh Knight, Tucker Knight, Paisley Baugher, Mickey Long, Aiden Bennett, Abby Bennett, Preston Thompson and Harper Thompson; six siblings, Nathan Warner and wife, Linda, Betty Jean Hoover, Stevie Warner, Jimmy Warner and wife, Susan, Galen Warner and wife, Bonnie, and Carl Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hoover; and two brothers, Dennis Warner and Jerry Warner.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service in Bridgewater, Virginia. Burial will be private.
