Leona Catherine Thompson, 91, of Franklin and formerly of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Jan. 16, 2025, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Mrs. Thompson was born on Jan. 22, 1933, in Riverton, the daughter of the late James Lester and Rhoda (Warner) Thompson.
She attended Circleville High School and was a member of the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She retired as a case worker and office worker from Lakewood Apartments for the elderly.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Melody Cooper of Franklin; a grandson, Bruce Cosby Eagle, Jr.; and a great-grandson, Grayson Cole Eagle.
She was also preceded in death by a son, James David Hyre (Oct. 6, 2018); four brothers, Wilmer, Robert, Jacob and James Ralph Thompson; and two sisters, Martha Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Thompson.
In honoring her wishes, her body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
