Bill S. Swadley, 91, of Salisbury, North Carolina, went home to Glory on Dec. 8, 2024.
He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Brandywine.
Mr. Swadley was a graduate of Franklin High School in Franklin.
He was drafted into military service in 1953 and was stationed in Alaska while serving in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1955. He then met and married the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Jean Propst, and they moved to Washington, DC, where he was employed as a bakery sales driver with Safeway stores for 38 years, retiring in 1993.
He and his wife then moved to North Carolina and became members of Wittenberg Lutheran Church in Granite Quarry, North Carolina
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Kisamore (Kevin); a son, Mark Swadley, Sr. (Everlena); grandchildren, Brandon Clay (Erika), and their six daughters, Mark Swadley, Jr. and his son, Natalie Swadley, and Drew and Jacob Kisamore; a brother, Ronald Swadley; a sister, Phyllis Hedrick; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Swadley Propst; stepfather, Everett Leo Propst; his wife, Jean Swadley; a sister, Jackie Kiser; and a brother, Donald Swadley.
A service was held Saturday at Wittenberg Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granite Quarry, North Carolina, with the Reverend Ed Harper officiating.
