Jessie Freeman Campbell, 73, of Brandywine passed away on Oct. 11, 2024, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
He was born Jan. 15, 1951, in Stephenson, Alabama.
Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the United States Marines and retired as an E-8 1st Sergeant after serving 20 years. During his time serving, he was remembered as being the youngest DI and for serving the longest term in his era.
On Oct. 5, 2012, he married Judy Gail Lundy, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Carrie Rather (Keith) and Kassie Campbell, all of Florida; a sister, Nancy Shreve (Roy) of Upper Tract; a brother, Frank Campbell; and two grandchildren, Avery and Isabel Rather.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clay Campbell; and a sister, Tina.
In honoring his wishes, his body has been cremated.
