Pendleton County Middle High School started a new tradition this year with academic letters as a new way to encourage students to do their best in the classroom and to acknowledge them for their hard work. The following criteria had to be met.
Students must maintain a 3.75 grade point average for three out of the four nine weeks for the specific school year. Students will be recognized during the second semester of each school year.
For the first year, the student will receive the academic letter. The student will receive the lamp of light pin the second year, and for the third and fourth years, the student will receive a bar pin.
A student could earn an academic letter for each year of his/her high school career. Additional letters are represented by the pin or bars on the initial academic P.
During the 2023-2024 school year, 88 letters were distributed to students in all four high school grades. There were 12 freshmen, 26 sophomores, 29 juniors, and 21 seniors who had earned an academic letter for their time at PCMHS. The letters were given out during the senior awards ceremony on May 13.
