Edward Franklin Botkin, 85, of Sugar Grove passed away June 1, 2024, at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Pendleton County, a son of the late Bertha Mae Botkin. He was raised by his uncle, the late Charles Pinkney “Pink” Botkin.
A simple man, Mr. Botkin lived a happy life utilizing basic necessities and his knowledge of living off the land. He loved hunting game in the fall and morels in the spring and fishing, as well as gigging fish and eels. Additionally, he enjoyed time spent pitching horseshoes.
Above all, he will be remembered as a person who never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with people in the community.
The last member of his immediate family, he is survived by extended family members, as well as numerous friends throughout the Sugar Grove Community.
A graveside funeral service was held Monday at the Botkin Family Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.
Pallbearers were friends in attendance.
