Raymond “Eddie” Phares, 89, of Circleville passed away on May 25, 2024, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1934, in Circleville, the son of the late Elmer Benjamin and Myrtle M. (Sponaugle) Phares.
Mr. Phares attended Circleville High School and retired after 45 years of service as a lineman superintendent for L.E. Myers Co. He attended Circleville United Methodist Church and North Fork Apostolic Church.
He dedicated his life to farming and enjoyed raising cattle.
On May 3, 1963, he married Alta Rose (Elkins) Phares, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Georgina Davis (Scott) of Fraziers Bottom; two sons, Raymond Edward Phares of Circleville and Michael Phares (Jill) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a sister, Mary June Bennett of Circleville; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Stephen, Adam, Samantha, Austin, Taylor and Ashley; a great-grandson, Macklen; and expecting two great-granddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James H. and Richard C. Phares; and four sisters, (twins) Bessie and Jessie. Ina Lee Hedrick, and Dottie Lou Warner.
The family received friends on Wednesday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Phares officiating. Interment will be at the Phares Family Cemetery in (Teter Gap) Circleville.
