Richard Reeves Ruddle, Sr., 97, of Franklin passed away on April 29, 2024, at the Pendleton Manor in Franklin.
He was born on July 19, 1926, at Ruddle, the son of the late John Preston and Clara Ella Ruddle.
Mr. Ruddle attended Franklin High School and was a member of the Ruddle Presbyterian Church where he had served as a trustee, deacon and elder. He enjoyed being a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.
He had worked as a farmer, veterinarian and small engine repairman, and painted houses in his earlier years.
On Dec. 25, 1948, he married Virginia (Murphy) Ruddle, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2010.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons, Richard Ruddle and John Ruddle (Linda), all of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Ruddle of Franklin; a grandchild, Cassandra “Sandy” Kile Richards (David); two great-grandchildren; six nieces; four nephews; and a number of great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Reed; and three sisters, Kathleen Ruddle, Maxine Dunkle, and Pauline Harman.
Funeral services were held May 2 at the Ruddle Presbyterian Church with Pastor Deborah Beam officiating. Interment was in the Ruddle Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Ruddle.
