Nine Pendleton County 4-H members attended the 2024 Beef Expo at Jackson’s Mill on April 12 to participate in the stockman’s contest, which included judging breeding cattle, feeder calves, identifying cuts of beef, identifying different forage species, answering basic quality assurance questions and identifying different breeds of sheep, goats, beef and swine. Participating in the day’s event were, from left, Katie Heavner, Phoebe Pownell, Marion Williams, Tori Heavner, Bella Hoover, Branson Smith, Aiden Whetzel, Hannah Schell and Emily Schell. The junioteam consisting of Tori Heavner, Whetzel, Smith and Williams placed fifth overall with Williams being 12th overall junior individual. The senior team of Pownell, Katie Heavner, Hannah Schell, and Emily Schell finished 19th overall.
